To celebrate this tsar bomba of basedness, HoractixTV made a new SFM still for our blog... I don't think this was on anyone's bingo card 😎 Also, a new stats tracking system has gone live, tracking various metrics like kills, longest killstreak, headshots and more; The plugin is mostly complete and can be checked out in-game with !stats, while a cool online UI for player stats is now available at kogasa.tf/whaletracker NOTE this is in BETA and should get pretty freakin epic soon

Booooo! October is generally a turbulent time for community servers due to Casual exsanguinating them but we've been thriving over here; who knows why? In the past two months or so we've added a variety of new features for players to check out, some of that includes:
!cwx has been expanded; You can use !cw to open the menu and !c or !cp to read what options are available for your class. (cp stands for custom weapons panel)
We've added a FastDL system to facilitate some of the new features; the first addition was a new building for the Engineer, the Amplifier, which provides a fire rate and reload speed buff to allies in a radius. Players can use !a to toggle the Amplifier, and in the case that sentries are disabled as they often are, sentries are replaced with Amplifiers instead of being destroyed!
The second FastDL feature is a system known as saysounds; players can use !soundname (for example !cow3) to play a sound for everyone to hear, with a list available at !sounds and a volume option with !vol 0-1
Our Steam Chat now has over 300 members which helps us organize play and to grow, join at any time to prove you're a true fan! (click this)
We've added actual custom weapons with some ideas the community have come up with; the first one is a pistol for Scout and Engineer which fires 35% faster, deals 40% less damage, is 40% more accurate, and has a 200% larger clip size; this emulates a "Lightning Gun" type weapon from classic FPS games. The second one is a cowboy revolver for Engineer and Scout's secondary slot that has an accuracy bonus and drains ammo from sentries, but the first shot deals a killing blow to anyone else holding the same weapon. The third new weapon is "Sproke", a drink for Scout, which makes the scout's magazine bottomless for 12 seconds, but leaves the Scout with no reserve ammo once the effect ends. Another new weapon is a fire shotgun for Pyro, which has a 30% damage penalty and a 15% smaller magazine size, but landing two shots that are calculated as accurate on a target within 5 seconds create a fiery explosion that ignites enemies and provides bonus damage. Two minor new weapons are the Wall Climbing Kit and Surfboard for Spy; the wall climbing kit removes your revolver, reduces HP by 10 and grants you the ability to climb walls with your melee attack, while the Surfboard is a sapper which reduces damage taken from sentries by 60% and has a 50% sapper damage penalty, allowing Spies to perform sentry surfing tricks more effectively.
The popular "Eientei" map has been given a high-budget Halloween reskin, including a Hell dimension from our famous MGE map.
We now have a Github repository for anyone to look at the server's programming under the hood, we've even had some contributions from friends to make new things possible, like nerfing the Wrangler shield's resistance level. Click the Github button on this page, or check it out here
Each new addition to the server is designed carefully and is subject to change based on data gathered from playtime, which allows us to slowly add new content and killer features while creating minimal aggrevation. Overall, the intent and purpose of the server is to be the best place to play, and new content like nerf reverts or new weapons are side attractions that happen to grow in number over time. website has been quiet for a while but... this server is still a thing! In the past four months we've added a variety of features and QoL changes to the server, and since before that time we've been moving the majority of server documentation from this website to the server itself and to our new Steam Group while this site took a backseat. We've added !cwx for weapon options and a handful of TF2C weapons ported to TF2 by us. So far, these total nine, such as Demoman Gunboats.
A welcome message and commands for reading server info, like !reverts and !info, which are the most up to date places to check on server changes. Use !reverts to read everything about your class.
We've added !bots with Touhou names for anyone joining during inactive hours.
We've migrated to a new Steam Group with a flashy and informative look to attract more interested people, join it Here. We use the Steam group chat to alert people when we're playing like we used to in the past with the announcements feature before it was removed by Valve; join the group chat Here! This has been a new paradigm in organizing play.

We added melee wall climbing for Huntsman users... so quirky.

Anyway, this new blogpost was brought on by the server turning 5 years old just a little while ago; that's insane, and we can finally be sure that the server will live past half a decade, but not to one decade. Traffic to Kogasatopia has been exploding recently (Do people love birthday hype that much?) and we'd like to take the time to reiterate that we now use steamcord unironically; it's kino! Utsuho here, there's a new update in the works. We've got a few things planned - new weapon buffs and an update to an old map I made called cp_chireiden. We've been brainstorming a bit and this time we want to give YOU folks (yep, each one of you) a chance to vote for a weapon for us to give a bit of a buff. We've got a strawpoll up (https://strawpoll.com/05Zdz10OGn6) and we want to see which weapons you all would want to see upgraded. Hello, Konatabruh here I'd like to give a formal greetings to the community on behalf of me and Utsuho. Despite the pessimistic tone in Hombre's parting message I and Utsuho both hold high expectations for the servers future and will be doing our best to maintain the atmosphere and quality that the server has built under our former masters tenure. I don't see this as us being given the server but rather I see this as Hombre giving the server to its community, and so I and Utsuho both want to try our best to be receptive to the community going forward. Please don’t be afraid to let either of us know how you are feeling about the server whether it be a social, technical or gameplay related issue. Additionally, the ban appeal email has been changed to one I control. Finally, I asked Utsuho what else I should say in our first blog post as owners, and he wanted to let you all know that: They're chinchillas, not whales; - This is huge, the only thing nearly as massive is the possibility of a new ofc map being added after this blogpost.

There's been a change of management; I gave the server to Utsuho and Konatbruh (He's named Schraaplaaart right now), I just need to move the websites and then boom I'm out of the machine, my last day on the server was yesterday and a lot of things are different now (or back to before) like random crits and the Sandman being back... it's scary, I know! But there's a still lot left, the server might survive, haha~

Other than the game dying and the community being bored, apathy prevents the dream from working! That means go play.

An updateroni?
The next thing you're thinking is 'What about that update thing below with the donald trump image I've seen spread to several places on Twitter?', that's actually been happening, it's just gradual because whatever the community can crank out such as mapping, art and programming take time. Nonetheless there have been sweeping changes to the server this spring with #BigDeal new maps like Eientei2 and Forest of Magic, and you guessed it, class limits and random crits being gone!
Wrongthink time!
Despite the wording we're not actually going mask off here - cracking down on f2ps and the sandman started up to 2 years ago. The community of this game is terrible which causes it to have political issues such as 'random crit nazis' versus 'the uncletopia troons', but in the current year that topic is nearly dead, most of the former side no longer play TF2 or have accepted much of what Uncletopia does is right. The good news is that only unloved classes like engi and heavy are limited and melee random crits are still active.
What's next?
Most people in the community only play on this server which makes the gameplay quality incredibly important to uphold, and it became further possible to correct issues as 4chan tf2 politics began to die out fully. What else's come out recently include a rewrite of chat that allows locally muted people to continue having their chat read, which brought needed relief to micspammers, and plugins which allow for extensions of gametimers or for objectives to be disabled, making koth gameplay often more smooth. Speaking of 'smooth' all sentries are now disabled on koth - it's smooth because hating engineer makes you attractive to the youkai girls. To those ends we're working on a new scramble plugin ('ScrambWhale') that will only autobalance tourists, and a new cumulative leaderboard for stats (Seen Whaletracker? think bigger...) and maybe some cp_gravelpit_pro! the standard 24 player size, and the mapcycle will be trimmed down to the most iconic and replayable Kogasatopia maps fathomable. The aim is to create a more streamlined experience
with minimal annoyances, and to see if it provides relief from the standard format. If well received, the event may recur each Wednesday... speaking of which, I've received word that as a punishment

Due to a fire in a New York datacenter, many services have been rendered offline for the past few days, ironically including both Kogasatopia and that one other server. Services returned Wednesday evening, and the
gyates have #BuiltBackBetter. The server has been full all evening like it usually is, thanks in part to the TF2 summer update, which our hivemind has decided sucks; more on that below.
TF2 Summer update: It's mid
Several hours before gyate.net returned, the much anticipated TF2 summer update flanally dropped; despite everyone's expectations being low, the update does indeed contain only maps and hats. Notably, cp_steel has been renovated and is now much more similar to cp_steel_pro, which is a downgrade due to the removal of iconic exploits and reducing the detail of several rooms for the sake of "visual clarity" (which is retarded because you can frag in a messy room if you're so great)
Additionally, Valve has added VSH to casual, and i'm being told that it includes new voice lines for every mercenary, which all sound terrible and like completely different characters. This is less relevant than cp_steel because it only concerns casual and none of us go there.
The cosmetics and koth_rotunda (update: we hate rotunda now) are pretty keyed though!

Twitter just dropped
Noticed that the Twitter icon on the site is different now? I sure did. That's because Kogasatopia now has a Twitter page, which will tweet important photos and make snarky replies to people who get banned and complain. This was motivated by the unfortunate reality that everyone here is only here because of the astronomically small chance that they ran into Koggy, which is a bit sad to think about. With some luck, this traditional form of publicity will let people who would otherwise love to be playing here actually know that the server exists.

Due to being harassed about 'Gasa on his streams and Twitter, Zesty checked the Kog out. Initially he was not noticed or cared about, despite someone confirming that it was the real deal, but he eventually became topical, and began answering people's questions. Despite being owned and streamsniped by banttf2 gamers in the past he's actually a pretty down to earth guy, and has since visited the server several times. More importantly, he tweeted a picture of a saucy Touhou spray from the server, along with the words 'Remember what they took from you'. This confirms that banttf2 is trad. View Zesty's tweet here.
dom_hydro_b4; New gem?

"WHAT IF HYDRO WERE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT AND HAD A QUIRKY NEW VERSION?", a question that TF2 redditors ask all the time. However, it looks like Kogasa's top engineers have cracked the code, and have finally made Hydro into an awesome map that TF2 gamers can play all day.
This map makes every area of Hydro available - barring Blu and Red's final bases from the original - and is focused on holding points for as long as possible, like KoTH but with 4 caps instead. The more capture points your team owns, the faster the clock will tick down. Additionally, capturing a point allows your team to resupply and spawn in the nearby base, and holding all four at once wins the round for your team, because your enemies won't have a base anymore.
This awesome gimmick has probably never been done before, which means we are inventors and scientists. NOTE: the hydro yukkuri are not real

Happy Passover! The new Kogasatopia website just dropped; it's like Teamfortress.com but more Kogasatopia oriented... we even have a blog now. Everything related to the server will now be featured here.
The last few Kogasatopia seasonal updates have been focused on weapon changes, but this time we have few; that's because we'd run out if we blew our load right now. Instead, along with some new features like being able to nominate workshop maps by name, we've added the Versus Saxton Hale gamemode to the server for the first time, which became possible with Vscript on March 17th. New mods page just dropped
Babe, what if there were Kogasatopia .vpk files that would make the TF2 world subtly more Touhou related? They actually exist; we just haven't had a place to list all of them until now. Each one has been carefully selected by how faithfully it fits TF2's artstyle since Kogasatopia occasionally cares about quality control.
Pictured is our important new mod that replaces most of TF2's signs and decals with Kogasatopia related ones, and it changes the ambulance and Dispenser textures slightly too. Other important vpk files include a Marisa hat that replaces the Ghostly Gibus and sexy Touhou calendars, which are soulful because they match the original poses of the TF2 calendars.

New Engineer Buildings
This server has two new buildings for the Engineer; EngiPads, and Amplifiers. EngiPads replace teleporters with a Jump or Speed pad while Amplifiers can replace sentries or dispensers and provide a mini-crit buff to allies.
Amplifier
Use !a to open the building menu and equip the Amplifier in your Sentry or Dispenser slot
Amplifiers provide a 3 second mini-crit buff to allies within 225 hammer units of range
Amplifiers store metal and consume it to operate; hit the Amplifier with your wrench to refill it.
NOTE: They explode violently on death, dealing up to 65 damage to anyone within the buff radius.
Speed/Jump Pads
Open the building menu to equip Engipads, or use !cw
Speed pads increase your speed to 480 units/second when touched, and the buff lasts for 2 seconds (3 on asymmetrical gamemodes)
Taking damage, being airblasted or scoping in with a rifle will remove the bonus early
Turn your teleporter while holding it to place a Jump pad instead. Jump pads launch allies 700 units upward & forward with a 2 second cooldown time.
Crouching when touching a jump pad increases the launch height and velocity by 10%

Gameplay
!center !duel !fov!center enables centered projectiles for weapons like grenade launchers and huntsman arrows, !fov lets you use any fov below 175
We recommend trying out !fov for an increased max fov (ex. !fov 100) or !center to try out centered projectiles for any weapon. You can also toggle the server's Engipads feature with !pads and participate in democracy with the server's voting commands. Note that some commands are short-form versions of existing commands (ex. !reverts -> !r) to provide convenience.
Server Settings
This server changes settings like respawn times, max rounds and time limits based on variables like the gamemode, specific map or number of players connected.
Server
Respawn times default to 6 seconds and are overall reduced from TF2's usual 12-24 seconds across all maps
Random critical hits are disabled, melee random crits are enabled, except for Snipers
Team unbalance limits start at 1 and are increased to 2 above 16 players
Pushing teammates is disabled
Waiting for players time is disabled
Pre-round explosive jumping is enabled
sv_pure is 0, meaning clients can use modded files
Sprays are enabled, also see soundsprays on our info page and the large sprays plugin (!spray 4)
Teams are scrambled every 2 rounds
Round wait times are disabled by mp_enableroundwaittime 0, which feels fast and snappy, but breaks a handful of maps with extensive scripting
Default timelimit is 50 minutes, default max number of rounds are 8
Voice chat icons are disabled to prevent cloaked Spies from being sabotaged
Spawn glow outlines are disabled
Alltalk is enabled
Random bullet spread is disabled
Cosmetics may be temporarily disabled during denial of service attacks in order to decrease ping and improve stability
King of the Hill / Other Symmetrical gamemodes
Respawn times default to 3 and increase to 4 above 16 players
Control point time is set to 5 minutes by default across all maps
Playercount limit is set to 28
Attack Defence / Payload gamemodes
Respawn times default to 10 and increase to 12 above 16 players
Red team members are respawned when a control point is captured
Respawn times return to default after 3 control points are captured, returning to the TF2 defaults of 10-25 seconds
Waiting for players is set to 15 seconds
Setup times are reduced to 30 seconds from 60
On Payload: Heavies are class limited to 1 per team, Medics are class limited to 2 per team
Playercount limit is set to 24
Engineer speed pad duration is increased from 2 to 3
Max rounds are set to 3
Arena
First blood critical hits are disabled
Max rounds are set to 30
Wow We're Back
October 1st, 2025 Hey guys, this website has gone out of use (aside from the useful playercount widgets on the home page) but we're now hosting a complete changelog here in the 'Updates' tab; go check it out! Listing changes here fell by the wayside because things change and are developed over time, causing this sort of format to fall out of use. We've mostly pivoted to listing server settings and important information in game with commands like !info !revert !c !commands and so on. In the past few months, we've moved to a new host, dramatically alleviating performance and networking issues that have been a trouble in the past. We also have relatively effective ddos retardation, and recently added rafradek's performance optimization plugin, which enables multithreading for TF2 networking and dramatically improved our performance. Our Steam chat is now the primary way the server is organized, and we have just under 300 members within it; we still ask that you join!
